Dolly-Parton

Dolly Parton, born Jan. 19, 1946 in Locust Ridge Tenn. to a family of 12 poor children who would grow up in the same household, understood very early how to get out of the difficulties she faced thanks to her incredibly vivid imagination. The songs she wrote were composed before she was able to write or read. At the age of 8, she was playing her first guitar. In the age of 11 She began singing on the local radio station in Knoxville, Tennessee. The same year, she released her first record on Gold Band Records a tiny independent label. As a student in high school, she was able to make her mark locally but dreamed about a larger stage. Following her graduation in 1964 she moved to Nashville. Her first charting hits from Monument Records included Dumb Blonde and Something Fishy both in 1967. It was around this time that Porter Wagoner was looking for someone new to sing on his TV show syndicated by the network. Parton was hired in 1966, joined RCA Records in 1968, and the Grand Ole Opry was founded in the year 1969. She left Wagoner's show, however, in 1974 due to her albums on her own like Joshua Coat Of Many Colors and Jolene outsold their collaborations. Parton was a part of the group that split after the end of their collaboration with Wagoner she wrote the song"I'll Always Be Loved" by You and saw it climb to Number. The first time it reached the top spot was in 1974.
