Arianna Huffington

Arianna Stassinopoulos Huffington resides in the United States and is a writer from Greece, a syndicated columnist and businesswoman. She is the author of fifteen books. She is also the co-founder the magazine The Huffington Post. Arianna Huffington is an author TV personality, philanthropist, and TV host as well as the owner and editor of The Huffington Post. She was born in Greece and moved to England at age 16. At Cambridge University, she graduated with an MA in economics. First foreign-born graduate to be elected president of the highly regarded debate club The Cambridge Union, at age 21 she took over the presidency. She was a conservative syndicated writer after the graduation ceremony and, when The Huffington Post launched a couple of years later, she developed an online voice platform with a critique of current politics. The fame of Arianna led to the recruitment of a variety of renowned contributors. Arianna rose to fame in 2003 when she decided to run for a non-partisan position in the California recall vote to succeed the then governor Davis. She was also involved in a Detroit-based project that promoted cars that are fuel efficient. She was named one of the Most Influential Women in Media according to Forbes in 2009, and was awarded the 12th spot on this list. That same year Guardian listed her among the top 100 media list. AOL Inc. bought The Huffington Post, and she was named president of this media group. It included a variety of AOL products at the time such as Engadget AOL style list and Patch Media. Elli was the son of Konstantinos, a journalist and management consultant. Though she was close with her father, it was the relationship she shared with her mother that shaped her entire life. At an early age, she demonstrated leadership skills which are still widely admired. At 16 years of age she relocated back to United Kingdom to pursue her education and was enrolled at Girton College Cambridge. She was a member of Cambridge Union, the Cambridge Union college debate society throughout her college years in which she became the third female to serve as the president. In 1972, she graduated with the degree of Master's in Economics. In the years following her degree she worked as a journalist-critic and TV host. She appeared alongside Bernard Levin on an edition Face the music, and she began to write her own novels with his help.
